The Garden Party is a garden club rooted in the Washington, DC metro area, dedicated to bringing people together to learn about horticulture, floral design, gardening, and the environment in a friendly, hands on way.
We fulfill this mission through workshops, flower shows, design activities, and community events. Our neighborhood flower shows are open to all, inviting neighbors and members alike to share in the creativity and joy of gardening. We proudly maintain the garden at the Little Falls Library and partner with the library each year to co-host educational events for Earth Day, sharing our love of the natural world with the wider community.
Whether we are creating floral designs, celebrating National Garden Week, decorating for the season, or simply digging in the dirt, The Garden Party is a place to grow, connect, and have fun.
The Garden Party is part of a larger garden club tradition that began in the United States more than a century ago.
The first garden club was formed in Athens, Georgia in 1891, when twelve women gathered at the home of Mrs. Edwin King Lumpkin to create the Ladies Garden Club of Athens. Their goal was to study horticulture, exchange plants and ideas, and use gardening to improve their community.
That same spirit continues today through National Garden Clubs, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting gardening, floral design, civic beautification, and environmental responsibility.
The Garden Party carries this tradition forward in the Washington, DC area through hands-on learning, creative design, community projects, and a shared love of plants and flowers.
Today, The Garden Party is an active and welcoming club with programs that combine learning, creativity, and community.
Members take part in design workshops, flower shows, National Garden Week celebrations, seasonal projects, and educational events. Recent activities have included hands-on floral design workshops, participation in garden club displays, and opportunities to represent our community through creative garden and floral projects.
We are proud to be a club where members can learn new skills, share ideas, celebrate accomplishments, and enjoy the beauty of gardening together.
